MILAN DESIGN WEEK 2013: Tofu armchair by Leonardo Talarico

TOFU is the provocative armchair by Leonardo Talarico.  As its name suggests, this piece of furniture is entirely made out of Tofu, one of the most nutrient, soft and ancient aliment. Through a dehydration process and subsequent thermal shock, tofu gains important mechanical properties and it can be used as a structural material. The armchair is treated with a natural colour that is able to change shades of colour based on the acidity of the material.

About the designer:
Leonardo Talarico (Milano,1988) is a young Italian designer, who is collaborating with some of the most prestigious firms in the design world such as Cappellini, Mercedes Benz, Alcantara, Ceramica Flamina, Henry Timi and various others. Rcs group has recently included him among 15 Italian talents under the age of 35.
