RUNWAY: Adelaide Fashion Festival - Paolo Sebastian F/W 2016
Stunning designs from the Australian couturier Paul Vasileff with his collection Paolo Sebastian for F/W 2016 at the Adelaide Fashion Festival.
“Each piece has been different, I can’t even begin to calculate the total hours spent planning and sewing ... the sleeved ball gown alone took 90 hours of work to create,” he said.
More about the fashion designer Paul Vasileff
The 2007 launch of Paul Vasileff’s first collection marked the seventeen year old’s first foray into the fashion world. The young boy who learned to sew with his grandmother is now a celebrity favourite, continuing to captivate clients and media alike with his whimsical designs and dedication to detail.
At just twenty five years old, Vasileff’s achievements include featuring at London Fashion Week 2010 and graduating from Milan’s Europeo Istituto di Design. A ground-breaking show at Sydney’s 2012 Fashion Palette launched the label into the international sphere.
A perfectionist with a penchant for classic beauty, the Adelaide designer has impressed the industry with his maturity and scope of his creative vision.
“I would not be here without the support of my amazing friends and family. Thanks to them I have realised my dreams and continue to create designs that honour the people in my life.”

DUTCH DESIGN WEEK 2015: Fiber Pattern Lamps by Robotiq
While surfing today on internet I found these interesting Fiber Pattern Lamps, seen at Dutch Design Week 2015. The lamps are made of resin-impregnated fibers by the Dutch design company Robotiq. The fibers are wound with a industrial robot around a mold in geometric patterns. The result is a beautiful, lightweighted and strong lamp.
More about the company:
Atelier Robotiq experiments with fibers and robotic weaving techniques to make lightweight 3D fiber structures with geometrical weave patterns. The Fiber Pattern Lamp series are designed using mathematical models and wound with an industrial robot. Atelier Robotiq is a Rotterdam based design company. They have an engineering-oriented culture using robots, 3D printers and laser cutters, which they combine with more traditional arts and craftsmanship. In contrary to many design studios this company makes all their products themselves. The name Atelier Robotiq represents the two worlds of Crafts and Technology.

DESIGN: Great Gan Woof Poufs for In- & Outdoor Living Rooms
While surfing on internet this afternoon I found these great Gan wool poufs 'Sail' by Hector Serrano. Very practical poufs for In- and Outdoor Living Rooms! Can imagine that this is a great way to relax at home. Poufs are nowadays very popular and that is not so strange, as poufs are such handy little objects. You can use them as extra seats, as side tables or use them to prop up your tired feet! They're so practical to move, rearrange or store. For more information, see the enclosed links below.

ART: Ursula Brenner "Royal Blue Abstract"
Love this beautiful abstract painting "Royal Blue Abstract" from Ursula Brenner.
About the Artist
Artist Ursula Brenner creates landscapes and contemporary abstracts in pastels, acrylics and oils using contrasts in form and color to underscore emotion. Brenner’s art reflects a wide range of moods from light and playful to deep and mysterious. Born in Germany, Brenner includes among her influences old world museums, art, music and architecture. Brenner attended Edgecliff College in Cincinnati, Ohio on scholarship and graduated in 1978 with a Bachelor of Art degree in Drawing and Painting. There, she studied with and continues to be influenced by artists Wolf Kahn, Susan Sarback, Doug Dawson and Albert Handell.
Brenner experiences a spiritual connection as she creates art which is something she wants the viewer to experience as well. “My art makes a strong, bold statement, an unambiguous statement” says the artist. “I want people who look at my work to be transported into another realm to transcend the normal human experience.” Brenner lives and paints from her studio in Cincinnati, Ohio. Besides painting, she often leads and participates in painting workshops across the country. |

ART: KAREL APPEL, THE AVANT-GARDIST COBRA (01)
I admire the spontaneous abstract work by Dutch artist Karel Appel. Below you will find several paintings from him, additional information about him as a painter and several links, which I found after my research on internet. For quite a long time ago I bought several blank paintings, paint as well as some knifes to start painting myself. Would love to paint in a spontaneous way like he did do. Now I only have to start. :-)
Christiaan Karel Appel was a Dutch painter, sculptor, poet and one of the founders of the avant-garde movement CoBrA. Karel Appel was born on 25 April 1921 at Dapperstraat 7 in Amsterdam, Netherlands. At fourteen, he produced his first real painting on canvas, a still life of a fruit basket. For his fifteenth birthday, his uncle gave him a paint set and an easel, and also taught him painting briefly. Appel studied at the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam, where he meet the dutch painter Corneille and some years later, Constant; they became close friends for years.
In 1948 Appel joined CoBrA (from:Copenhagen, Bruxelles, Amsterdam) with Corneille, Constant and Jan Nieuwenhuys and the Belgian poet Christian Dotremont. This artistic movement was formed with a unifying doctrine of complete freedom of colour and form, as well as antipathy towards Surrealism.Their working method was based on spontaneity and experiment, and they drew their inspiration in particular from children’s drawings, from primitive art forms and from the work of Paul Klee and Joan Miró. The new art of the CoBrA-group was not popular in the Netherlands, but it found a warm and broad welcome in Denmark
As a result of this controversy and other negative Dutch reactions to CoBrA, Appel moved to Paris in 1950 and developed his international reputation by travelling to Mexico, the USA, Yugoslavia and Brazil. Appel died on 3 May 2006 in his home in Zürich, Switzerland.
Watch here the great Cobra painter in action in this video from 1962 where we can see him in real life.
