Be Inspired by this fantastic work of Ingrid Donat .....
Ingrid Donat has produced several artworks that pay tribute to renowned artistic masters, such as her Cabinet Klimt. The cabinet’s interlinked pattern of blood-red poppies is inspired by Gustav Klimt’s paintings of fields of flowers, in which he reduces compositions into famously flat, geometric landscapes that reject accurate perspectives. Donat seamlessly transmutes his two-dimensional image into the walls and shelves of her cabinet, which represented a pivotal shift in her own artistic development, a departure from her early figurative works and a movement towards recurring abstract patterns.
My approach is about imbuing bronze with warmth and vitality by using scarification techniques and visual motifs inspired by the high art of cultures and communities with which I come into contact,” says Ingrid Donat.
Ingrid Donat is a French- Swedish artist born in 1957. Donat trained at École des Beaux Arts and later she met with Sylva Bernt, who instructed her in the art of sculpture. During the 80’s sculptor Diego Giacometti pushed her to start creating her own furniture.
Now, Donat currently stands as one of the most influential living artists in Decorative Arts. Her sculptured bronze furniture pieces exist as a symbiosis between the sophistication of Art Deco against the force of Tribal Art. Her creations take a painterly approach to the weighty medium of bronze.
