NYFW FALL 2012: Naeem Khan

Naeem Kahn has always designed with a nod toward his native India. But this season, inspired by a trip home last Fall, Kahn translated the extremes of Indian culture, from Tilaka dots to elaborate paisleys into a breathtaking collection worthy of Maharajah splendor. The title “The Body as a Canvas: From the Mughal Paisley to the Hindu Tilakas” tells the story. The collection featured mostly neutral colors, letting the fantastic workmanship shines. For more pictures please have a look at the enclosed link below.

Decorating: Vintage Typewriters

No matter how high tech your life gets, some classic gadgets should always be welcome in your abode. Let's face it - no matter how sleek and pretty an iPad looks, a vintage typewriter or phonograph is always going to qualify better as an interesting decor accessory. Below you will find some inspiring ideas for decorating with a vintage typewriter. For more vintage examples please have a look at the links below. For your own vintage typewriter: check out Kasbah Mod.
For a refined space reminiscent of a Parisian atelier, choose a much older typewriter model — think late 19th century or early 20th century models.
The red of this typewriter adds a major pop of color against the cool, neutral grays in the room.

RUNWAY: ARMANI SPRING 2012 HAUTE COUTURE

ARMANI HAUTE COUTURE SPRING 2012:
Gorgeous high fashion. Love the green colors! The theme was metamorphosis – like the mutation from flora to fauna, aqua to solid. Oceans of organza undulated and glittered like late-night waves and contrasted with slick blazers. Waxed snakeskin tops rubbed shoulders with reptile prints, all in a bold, green palette. Shimmery corsets were wrapped in a deluge of silk, but daywear was controlled and pencil-shaped. The Tim Burton feel was furthered by an ankle length skirt with giant pocket, paired with a simple sleeveless blouse. Bravo, Giorgio.

FURNITURE DESIGN: the Leather Ox Chair

This leather chair named the Ox Chair is a true symbol of power and could be a good choice for any office. The chair is big and looks very comfortable. The headrest of the Ox Chair is bigger than a normal one and specially designed to be in tone with the chair's name and to represent two ox horns. The Ox Chair is designed by Hans J. Wegner and available in 4 colors.

Nice Outdoor Furniture / Leuke buitenmeubels

Design Tuinbank: For Two (door Adriano Tolomei)
Thank you for reading this blogpost.

Source: TAFEL-DESIGN.NL

Designers embracing wood

DesignCollectionSpot.com/EmbracingWood

More and more designers are embracing wood as prime material for their designs.

1. Piet Hein Eek: Stools from recycled wood, with original paint colors.
2.Front for Moroso: Soft Wood Sofa. Looks like wood, is actually printed fabric. Really soft!
3. Ferruccio Laviani for Emmemobili: Evolution dresser, combining traditional woodworking with modern design.
4. Martin Vallin for Cappellini: The Secret Clubhouse. Made out of recycled wood.

This image shows the Anti Comfort Chair from Andrea Branzi. Made from recycled Venetian “briccole”, which were used in the canals and waterways.
