More about Irene
My name is Irene Pouw. I live in Holland not so far from the city Amsterdam. I am a blogger, haute couture lover, interiorstylist and management assistant. I am a great lover of art. I always had this interest to discover beauty, colors, harmony and diversity in art. Art can surprise and touch us in so many ways. Long time readers noticed already that I wrote quite some art blogs (meanwhile 269 blogs) in the past years, see HERE
Many years I wished to make abstract art by myself but I was too busy with other things. Besides that I did not know exactly where and how to start. So finally in January 2020 I started with making fluid / abstract art and it is really fun! I feel a deep desire to express myself in creativity, using colors and abstract forms. Would like to develop myself the coming years as a creative artist by learning all kind of new techniques and discover unknown areas of freedom and expression. I am looking forward to this journey. :-)  Hope I can inspire you .......

Gardens: The Ada Hofman botanic garden, the Netherlands

In August 2012, my sister and I visited the beautiful Ada Hofman botanic aquatic garden in the Netherlands. We really enjoyed! We had a fantastic sunny and relaxing day there full with inspiration and made, of course lots of inspiring photos. Beautiful memory. ❤
More about Ada Hofman, the designer
Approximately 30 gardens containing 50 ponds, including prefabricated versions and ponds constructed with liners, have been laid out around 3 large natural ponds. Together they in turn form one large garden. Ada Hofman has succeeded in assembling one of the largest collections of plants, shrubs and trees to be seen in Holland, totalling approximately 3000 different species.
Many animals have been put out in the ponds and also in the garden, such as grass snakes, frogs, blind worms, various types of fish, salamanders and lizards. The green frog population is the largest in the Netherlands. Birds are also enthusiastic visitors to the garden and the kingfisher is a regular guest. In the Summer they have butterflies, last year no less than 22 different species diurnal butterfly.
Another unique feature is the roof garden complete with pond. A 600 - square - metre garden has been laid out at a height of 3 metres on the roof of Ada Hofman's private house. From the roof garden visitors have a splendid view out over the aquatic garden and the private pond constructed in 1994. For more information please have a look at the enclosed link below.

Design: Playful & elegant tableware by designer Patrick Knoch⁣⁣

In love with this playful and elegant tableware designed by architect and designer Patrick Knoch⁣⁣. Be Inspired ......

"Our objects go beyond what we expect from an everyday object."

More about Patrick Knoch
Patrick Knoch studied plastic arts at the College of Fine Arts in Berlin, is architect in Switzerland and finally designer in France. His training at the Polytechnic School of Zurich might explain his rationalist and typological approach. As a designer he combines this rigorous approach with a freedom of tone that mirrors his independence. He associates various influences and styles and creates pieces that are both strong and light-hearted. His first items are produced in Germany and Italy. But it is in France, in the city of Bordeaux, that he creates the company Extranorm. Since 2016 he conceives simultaneously objects of different categories, jumping from sofa to carafe, from table to teacup. This constant changing of scales and categories allow him to take a fresh look, to multiply the points of view and to maintain the early momentum.

Lighting Design: La Lampe Gras (02)

La Lampe Gras, icon of the 20th century
Be Inspired by this beautiful and timeless lighting design, La Lampe Gras. In 1922 Bernard-Albin GRAS designed a series of lamps for use in offices and in industrial environments. The GRAS lamp, as it was subsequently called, was astounding in its simple, robust and yet very ergonomic design. There are neither screws nor welded joints in the basic form. In 1927 the Ravel company purchased the patent and started production of the GRAS lamps. I wrote earlier ANOTHER BLOG about this inspiring lighting design.

Bernard- Albin Gras was one of the most innovative designer of the 20th century. The functional esthetic of his lamps and especially the design of details such as those of the arms, stems, brackets and bases were truly original and far ahead of his time. Early on Le Corbusier was seduced by the modern design and user-friendliness of the lamps. He became one of Bernard-Albin GRAS’s most enthusiastic supporters using the lamps in his own offices as well as employing them in numerous architectural projects all over the world.

Others such as Robert Mallet-Stevens, Jacques Emile Ruhlmann and Eileen Gray followed this trend as well. Furthermore, such well-know artists as Sonia Delaunay and Georges Braque also used these lamps in their studios. For the first time in history, a lamp was equally popular in professional as well as in residential applications. Today, the GRAS lamp has become sought after a collector’s item all over the world, most notably in France, in the United States and in Japan. Bernard-Albin Gras’s talented and visionary design has proven to be timeless.
