ART: Inspiring Artwork by Dutch artist Miranda Groot-Pouw (06)

Today I would like to show you some pieces that caught my eye this week, like this beautiful painting from the Dutch artist Miranda Groot-Pouw (1965). Isn't it a Beauty? Love her refined and expressive artwork. The coming period I will show more of her interesting work. Earlier I published already some artwork, see MORE BLOGS
Helene Schjerfbeck, 2008
More about the artist
Miranda finished drawing and painting at the Dutch 'Nieuwe Kunst Academie Crejat' in Alkmaar (NL). She followed here during 5 years lessons and developed her own painting style. You can describe her style as abstract, expressionistic, figurative art. With acrylic paint she is painting in various transparant layers. Her subjects are various, from portraits to landscapes and buildings with an historical background and even an icon. Besides painting on linen, Miranda also made various wall- and windowpaintings.
Portrait of the artist
For a theatre association she made various décors. She worked as a creative teacher for a school. It was a challenge for her to learn the children several techniques in a playful way for drawing, painting and workmanship. Besides these activities, the Dutch school 'De Zandloper' in the place Koedijk (NL) gave Miranda also the opportunity to do some art projects. For more information about this interesting artist, see the link below of her website 'Mirandart'.

Kitchens: Positive effect of colors for homestaging - the color Blue

Today I saw this interesting article from Elle Decor about the positive effect of colors for homestaging. A fresh coat of paint in the right color may help sell a home for more money. According to a Zillow analysis, homes with walls painted in shades of blue or light gray may sell for as much as a $ 5,400 premium. Homes with soft blue kitchens sell also very well. For more information, see also the links below, also for other favourite colors for homestaging.

Interior Design: Peaceful & elegant apartment by 152 Elizabeth located in New York

Be inspired by this peaceful & elegant apartment designed by 152 Elizabeth located in New York. They have used beautiful materials and a peaceful color palette for a great effect! I am very impressed. See below for the results.
If there’s something reflected by this apartment, it’s a sense of peace and tranquility. Its elegantly decorated spaces have been created to inspire these feelings and create a place in which to rest and relax after a long day of work. The project was undertaken by the architectural firm 152 Elizabeth and is located in the Nolita district of the city of New York, USA. Its living room is done in soft colors and has been decorated with sober furnishings and blinds that allow the passage of light into the space. A soft and neutral color palette has been employed in the décor, as well as a variety of textures that have created a carefree and comfortable space that is cozy at the same time.

Interesting lighting design: the Elemental No. 6 chandelier by studioPGRB

Tonight I spotted this interesting lighting design: the Elemental No. 6 chandelier by studioPGRB. The elemental lighting series by Miami-based studioPGRB is inspired by molecular geometry, evident in its' angular design and structural composition. The combination of these characteristics create a unique, bold and innovative fixture.
More about the company
studioPGRB is a Miami based design studio founded in Chicago in 2012 by Raymond Barberousse and Priti Gandhi. They specialize in creating timeless handcrafted light fixtures. Each fixture is made to order by hand for each individual customer. The hand made nature of each fixture provides their customers with a truly unique lighting experience that is tailored to meet their individual specifications. A process that begins with a design concept and ends with light fixtures that are sculptural in form and structural in composition striking a delicate balance between vintage beauty and dynamic modern design.
