Lighting Design: Gorgeous chandeliers by Marjorie Skouras

This unusual turquoise chandelier is made from semi-precious stones and designed by interior designer Marjorie Skouras Design. Her work is very creative, elegant and colorful.

Marjorie Skouras, who also has an eponymous collection of luxury home accents, lighting and furniture, has signed a licensing agreement with Currey & Company. The collection, which will debut at the October 2011 High Point Furniture Market, will include mirrors, lighting, furniture and accessories.

Inspired by jewelry designs, the debut collection will comprise around 50 designs with overall classical references. The licensed line will also riff on her original high-end collection, which spotlights exquisitely detailed designs fashioned from semi-precious stones such as turquoise, coral, malachite and rock crystal. Known for her creative and fearless use of color, Skouras also plans to introduce hot colors into the line, like emerald green and coral.

More about Marjorie Skouras
After nearly 17 years in the film business, Marjorie Skouras elected to follow her passion and entered the field of interior design. With a B.A. in Art History from U.C.L.A, and several years of training as a fine arts photographer, the initial venture into the film business was accidental. Marjorie Skouras Design has now been fruitfully in business for eleven years. Using her own house a testing ground, Skouras honed her skills in both design work and shopping for unusual pieces. A mix of both periods and styles, as well as a generous use of color distinguish her style. When asked to define her personal style, she responds that it is fairly traditional, but almost always with a twist, and playfulness is a constant element. Having said this, she is equally at ease with both modern and the more straightforward traditional styles. Philosophically, Skouras feels that her job is to interpret her client’s needs and desires, and to present design concepts to them that enhance their lives, while at the same time maintaining a sense of practicality.
