Lovely Hat Design by Philip Treacy

Could not resist to share with you today this lovely hat design by milliner Philip Treacy. Isn't it an inspiring design? I am a huge fan of his sophisticated hat designs. Earlier I wrote more blogs about Hats, SEE HERE

About Philip Treacy
“I have had the greatest pleasure of having the opportunity to challenge people's perception of what a hat should look like in the 21st century. I make hats because I love hats. It's an enigmatic object that serves the human purpose only of beautification and embellishment, and making one feel good, whether you’re the observer of the spectacle or the wearer”

Outdoor Furniture: Santorini, new modular seating system by Francesco Rota

While surfing on internet today I saw this beautiful new modular seating system 'Santorini'  designed by interior & product designer Francesco Rota for Paolo Lenti. Love this inviting design, the lines as well as the fresh colours for a relaxing vibe. :-)

Introduced at the last edition of Milano Design Week, Santorini is a new sectional seating system for outdoor use. Open to multiple compositions and free from superfluous elements, the system appeals to those who seek contemporary products with a touch of classic elegance. Earlier I wrote more blogs about this inspiring designer, SEE HERE

More about the designer
Francesco Rota is an interior & product designer based in Milan. He was born in 1966, graduated in product design at Art Center College of Design in 1994, La Tour de Peilz (Switzerland) and in 1998 opened his own studio in Milano where he doesn’t limit his work within only one field. The secret to his long-lasting success lies in the wide scope of his interests: product, furniture, lighting, showrooms, offices, residential interiors, events, etc. In 2004 he lectured in a master’s programme at Istituto Europeo di Design in collaboration with Magis. In 2013 he was appointed creative director of Lapalma. Apart from introducing new products for the brand, he aims at strengthening their positions in the most demanding world markets – Europe, North America and the far East.

Over the years Francesco has collaborated with a number of widely recognised brands such as Bals Tokyo, Barilla, Driade, Fiat, Frag, John Richmond, Knoll International, Lapalma, Lema, Living Divani, L’Oreal Paris, Malo, Martini & Rossi, Mercedes Benz, Moroso, Paola Lenti, Oluce, Versus.

Francesco’s long-term collaboration with Paola Lenti and Lapalma has been extremely productive. He has been awarded with all kind of awards, see his website (About) for more details about this. He also took part in numerous exhibitions worldwide.

The authentic values of Italian design - comfort, simplicity, functionality and visual appeal, are an integral part of Francesco’s philosophy and are present throughout all his works. He often finds inspiration in the beauty of the industrial production processes as well as in the aesthetics of popular iconic designs.

Francesco’s products could be described as elegant, pure forms unaffected by time and fashion. He designs for various companies and environments but always with innate feeling for composition, delicate taste for colour and focus on functionality. His works are aimed at complimenting their settings and contributing to the general feeling of comfort. This design effort is greatly appreciated not only by his partners but also by the audience, a fact that is evident in the increasing interest in his work.

PHOTOGRAPHY: DUTCH TULIP FIELDS - AERIAL PHOTOS

Stunning aerial Photo series of Tulip fields in the Netherlands. When you think of tulips, you cannot help but think of the Netherlands. It has become a beloved symbol for the country and every year tourists flock there to see the glorious flowers in bloom. And how better to capture these fields of tulips than by photographing them from the sky. French photographer Normann Szkop teamed up with pilot Claython Pender for this aerial photo shoot. The stunning photographs reveal what appear to be fields of geometric bursts of colour in every hue of the rainbow. This blogpost is a repost of my blog from 25-02-2021. Be Inspired ......

La Vita Bella ....... Monique Lhuillier Spring 2025 Bridal in Tuscany

Be Inspired by this fantastic bridal collection from fashion designer Monique Lhuillier for Spring 2025, shot in the hills of Tuscany in a beautiful 14th-century villa. The collection has Victorian influences, rich in floral laces, sculptural taffetas, diverse hemlines, larger-than-life embroidery and dimension. The print of the season features a wild bouquet of apple blossoms, spray roses and poppies, cascading over pique gazar and tulle, standing tall in one of the grand salons. Digital Art: Lady in Red by artist Catrin Welz-Stein (01)

Colorful digital art by the German artist Catrin Welz-Stein. In 2009 Catrin started to create digital images by collaging old illustrations and photographs. At the same time she discovered online social networks and her private images were then open to the public. The positive responses Catrin got there were her motivation to go on with her art until now. I will write MORE BLOGS about her beautiful work. Be Inspired ......
More about the artist
Tell us about You - your philosophy and the experience in visual arts
As a child I loved to draw and liked to be creative. I almost was born with a pencil in my hand. I knew I wanted to do something related to arts. I have graduated from Graphic Design in DarmstadtGermany and then worked for different advertising agencies in GermanyUSA and Switzerland.
The artist, Catrin Welz-Stein

I stopped working in agencies after becoming a mother and after a short time of being self employed I decided to quit work until my children grew older. Because of my children (4 and 6 years old) I can go through childhood again and I can enjoy the world of fantasy and fairy tails. I like to look at childrens books and let them inspire me. „Where the wild things are“, from Maurice Sendak is a favourite book of all of us. Through the children books I rediscovered the love to illustration again.

As a professional graphic art designer I often had to make compromises for the clients. There were a lot of rules in visual communication and I often felt that I could not express my whole creativity. Now I enjoy creating art that does not explain itself from the beginning. My images have a dreamlike and surreal quality. They speak from inner feelings which we often hide in our daily life.

What are your greatest inspirations?

My inspirations are: fantasy, children stories, medieval, Jugendstil, Folklore and Surrealism. I am inspired by the work of Nicoletta Ceccoli, Kelly Rae Roberts, Sabrina Ward Harrison, Olaf Hajek, Maggie Taylor, Natalie Shau, Colette Calascione and Nazario Graziano. Well, there are so many great artists around!

How did you gain so much knowledge in this area?
As a graphic art designer I worked a lot with digital images.

What creative mediums do you prefer the most and why?
My images are all digital made. I collect old images and illustrations and put them new together in Photoshop. The working process is based on combining and the division of photographs, with removing, filling and retouch. Using digital medium I have far more creative possibilities and I can work much faster then on the Canvas. Perhaps, my skills have been formed during the long years of working in front of my computer. Thanks to all that I can create my art best in digital.

Your art world is …
My art world is Otto Dix, Frida Kahlo, Picasso, Gustav Klimt, Magritte and Boticelli.

Furniture Design: EAJY launches its 1st flagship product, the Beams Chair

While surfing on internet I found these beautiful chairs, called Beams Chairs from EAJY. What an interesting
industrial design! The Beams Chair is the first wooden I-beam chair in the world. It is very lightweight (only 4.5kg) yet extremely strong, elegant and comfortable. Industrial style has been gaining popularity in recent years. It brings an interesting touch to a living space with sharp lines and simple form and with the appreciation of raw and rustic materials. With the Beams Chair, transforming a space to more modern and sophisticated industrial style becomes an easy task. Inspired by the steel I-beams of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, the Beams Chair is made from wood I beams, which reduce the weight of the structure  while enhancing the strength of the chair. This blogpost is a repost of my blog of 16-02-2016. Be Inspired ......
More about EAJY
EAJY designers Eric and Johnny were college buddies. They dreamed of having their own furniture brand, so they came to Germany to further their study and hone their skills. Along the way their designs had been selected by 2012 and 2013 IMM Cologne [D3] Contests. Their confidence grew and finally founded EAJY Design Studio in 2015. Beams Chair is the first industrial style product that they put on the market.
