Art: Creative & minimalistic artwork by artist Shira Barzilay

While surfing on internet today I found this creative artwork from international artist Shira Barzilay. Really like her minimalistic and expressive style. Shira Barzilay, also known as social media sensation Koketit, is best know for her abstract line drawings with a sensual feminine twist.

With more than 204K loyal fans following the @Koketit Instagram account, Shira adorns the images which inspire her daily with her own signature strokes, utilizing the digital world as a canvas for all to ‘like’ and admire. Her strong fashion background coupled with a deep passion for art has cultivated her unique perspective, manifesting itself across volumes of art and creative collaborations. She may often be found creating on-the-spot iPad Pro-powered portraits of attending guests at high-profile functions and events, as well as single-handedly orchestrating live animation art installations.

Her signature style and innovative vision have captured the imagination of brands such as Chanel, Anthropologie, Facebook, H&M, SunCoo Paris, Soda Stream and Amazon, to name just a few. Her works are frequently featured in both on and offline magazine publications, most recently in Harper’s Bazaar. Thanks to Instagram, the Koketit community spans across the globe and includes Mexico, Finland, and Afghanistan.

More about Shira:
As a young girl, Shira Barzilay fell in love with the smells of paint and turpentine wafting through the air of her aunt’s studio. With a love for storytelling, Barzilay explored various avenues of self-expression. Following her studies at the Shenkar College of Engineering and Design, the young artist embodied a ‘more is more’ aesthetic. Over time, she understood that though her work, she could say more by doing less. Her journey began to manifest as she incorporated a subtractionist methodology to her work. “Minimalism is not about being economical, it’s about precision,” explains Barzilay. At the start of her newfound appreciation for minimalism, Barzilay endured growing pains of removing elements from her work, until she reached a point where the initial draft didn’t consist of many lines to start. Using Picasso as her guiding light, Barzilay shares his belief, “Art is the elimination of the unnecessary.” Barzilay primarily creates digital prints, in an attempt to reveal the unseen.
