Travel: Wonderfully colourful Australia travel poster, 1930 by Percy Trompf

Be inspired by this wonderful Australian travel poster from 1930 by artist Percy Trompf .....
More about the artist
The artist Percy Trompf (1902-1964) was born in Victoria, Australia and began his commercial artistic career designing confectionery packaging. He also designed thousands of advertising posters, but the widespread recognition of his posters for the Australian National Travel Association and the Victorian Government Railway is probably what he is most known for. His bright, colourful, optimistic pictures had wide appeal, especially during the Depression and in the 1930s his posters attracted lots of attention overseas.

ARCHITECTURE: Modern Wood & Glass Australian Beach House

What a stunning view! Point King residence is a modern beach house located on a cliff top in Victoria, Australia. Hassell Studio architects and the owners wanted to integrate this quite large scale building to the natural environment. Therefore more aspects had to be taken into account, like the site, the orientation, the materials, to name just a few. The shape of the house is that of rectangular boxes with timber slats and glass facades. The ground floor anchors the house to the ground, while the second floor cantilevers towards the sea like a light, floating object.
