In Memory of Brigitte Bardot ........

On 28-12-2025 Brigitte Bardot died at the age of 91. She was a legend of cinema and one of the most recognizable faces in the international film history. As a figurehead of French cinema, she became a cultural icon in the 1950s before she left her career to dedicate herself entirely to animal rights activism. Rest in Peace, Brigitte ........

Fashion & Art: Beautiful Art Déco work by Chinese painter Helena Lam

Would like to share with you today these colorful and elegant Art Déco posters from Helena Lam.
The artwork of Helena Lam, Chinese-born Canadian painter from Hong Kong, is inspired by the Art Déco era. This is a design style that blossomed in Paris in the 1920's and flourished internationally throughout the 1930's, into the World War II era. The style influenced all areas of design including architecture, interior design, industrial design, fashion, jewellery as well as the visual arts such as painting, graphic arts and film. At it's zenith, Art Déco embodied elegance, glamour, functionality and modernity. This blogpost is a repost from 05-09-2016. Be Inspired .......

Vintage Fashion: Dovima posing for the July 1952 issue of Vogue

Love this beautiful vintage photo from Dovima posing for the July 1952 issue of Vogue by fashion and portrait photographer Horst P. Horst. Be Inspired ...........
More about the fashion photographer
Horst P. Horst was a German-born American fashion photographer considered one of the masters of the medium. Best known for his glamorous images of women and fashion, Horst meticulously posed his models in elaborate, sophisticated tableaus. His unique aesthetic can be described as a mixture of Surrealism and Neoclassicism with its reverence for ancient Greek ideals and focus on form and mystery, creating a vibrant sensuality that set his work apart. Born Horst Paul Albert Bohrmann on August 14, 1906 in Weißenfels-an-der-Saale, Germany, he went on to study architecture in Paris with Le Corbusier in 1930. Horst began working for Vogue magazine in 1931 and moved to New York in 1937 where he met Coco Chanel, with whom he would collaborate for over three decades. Horst’s photographs have since been featured in many books including Horst, His Work and His WorldForm/ Horst and Horst: Photographer of Style. In 1989, Horst received the Lifetime Achievement Award of The Council of Fashion Designers of America and in 1996, the Master of Photography Award from the International Center for Photography. He died on November 18, 1999 in Palm Beach Gardens, FL.

Vintage Fashion: Travel Clothes for Vogue 1953 by Norman Parkinson

Lovely vintage fashion photo 'Travel Clothes' for Vogue 1953 from one of the twentieth century’s best-known fashion photographers Norman Parkinson. Be Inspired .....
More about Norman Parkinson
Norman Parkinson was one of the twentieth century’s best-known fashion photographers. He was active for over 50 years and was instrumental in taking portrait and fashion photography beyond the stiff formality of his predecessors and injecting an easy and casual elegance into his images. His impulsive and unstructured style changed forever the static, posed approach to fashion photography, while his enchanting, idiosyncratic persona charmed his sitters and projected an alluring and glamorous public image. Standing at 6 feet 5 inches tall, Parkinson was unable to remain unobtrusive behind the lens and instead created ‘Parks’, the moustachioed, ostentatiously elegant fashion photographer – as much a personality as those who sat for him, and frequently more flamboyant. His flawless professionalism, manners and well-rehearsed eccentricities reassured the uneasy sitter and disarmed the experienced. His photographs of celebrities, artists, the British Royal Family, as well as leading figures from the worlds of film, theatre, politics and music are known throughout the world and have become icons of twentieth century style.
