Decorating Ideas: Exquisite handmade wallpapers & fabrics by Fromental

A wall covering by Fromental is unmistakable. Although the handmade wallpapers are as versatile as they are beautiful, ranging from traditional embroidered chinoiserie’s to painted geometric motifs, there is something so, well ‘Fromental’ about them. Furniture Design: the elegant Norton dining table designed by Sean Dare

Would like to share with you today this beautiful Norton dining table designed by Sean Dare (2014) from the British design company Dare Studio. What a craftsmanship! Here it is combined with the Katakana armchair. The Norton dining table was developed from an experiment in joinery techniques. The junctions between the cross rails, side rails and legs have been cleverly designed to overlap, slot and tenon to provide a solid construction with wonderful details. The Katakana armchair was designed by Sean in 2009. A beautiful combination with the Norton dining table ....... The armchair was influenced by Japanese symbology and has a distinctive angular character. Katty Schiebeck, self-taught interior designer and blogger at Somewhere I Would Like to Live — a website of inspiring photography, tasteful interiors and architecture — is truly the product of her generation. Her work has been shared online with such an enthusiasm that it has catapulted her onto the international stage.

Despite her modest-sized portfolio of residential projects — the most blogged-about being a 440-square-metre apartment in Barcelona’s upscale Passeig de Gràcia — Schiebeck’s distinctive style has attracted attention from day one. What some might see as a mix of Scandinavian minimalism and contemporary Spanish design, the interior designer prefers to describe simply as “welcoming and austere at the same time”. There are many other influences at play, she adds. The work of Modernists Le Corbusier and Mies Van der Rohe and the dramatic interiors of American architect Paul Rudolph are all touchstones. 
 

Most important for Schiebeck, however — and the starting point for every project — is to respect the history or the ‘bones’ of each site. “I try to retrieve some architectural elements of the space, for instance: a floor of mosaic tiles or some moulds on the walls,” she explains. “I’ve been fortunate to work on properties in Barcelona of modernist style, where you always find such decorative elements.” 

Schiebeck came to interiors via real estate, an avenue that allowed her to build a client base quickly but decorating was always her first love. “I used to love going to Encants, a small flea market in Barcelona, to look for pieces,” she says. “Furniture with lots of character fascinates me.”

The furniture Schiebeck sources for her clients is mostly custom-designed and made to fit each interior, almost always in mid-century modern style. The careful arrangement of these pieces creates a sense of space — one of the most remarkable characteristics of her work. 

Another Schiebeck hallmark is an emphasis on light: “Always maximise the natural light,” she says. Adhering to a neutral colour palette — white, ecru, light grey and blond and honeyed woods with dramatic black accents — and the interplay of timber, marble and micro-cement surfaces make her interiors appear more light-filled.

Furniture Design: The elegant Ritz Slipper Chair by Eric Kuster Metropolitan Luxury

While surfing this afternoon I saw this beautiful chair from the Dutch company Eric Kuster Metropolitan Luxury. It's the Ritz Slipper chair. Its low-slung design invites you to slip effortlessly into its comforting form. Without armrests, you’re able to assume practically any position you desire. Soft cushioning and a plethora of finishes make Ritz a stunning addition to any space. I am completely in love with this design as well as the chosen fabric and color! STYLISH INTERIOR DESIGNS AT 1110 PARK AVENUE, NEW YORK (01)

While surfing on internet earlier, I saw these stunning penthouses at 1110 Park Avenue, New York. I am completey in love with these interior designs, so elegant, sophisticated, luxurious and serene. The designer on the project, Cheryl Eisen, president and luxury stager of Interior Marketing Group, says she chose colors that wouldn’t distract from the space’s classic architecture, like white, beige, brown and gray. It is also unlikely to look dated and makes it easy for the buyer to imagine living there, she adds. 'White is ideal for staging because it isn't overly taste-specific and creates a calm, clean, elegant feeling, which resonates with a broad buyer demographic', Ms. Eisen says. 

In a bold move, paint manufacturers, interior designers and real estate developers pick white as their top color. Benjamin Moore names 'Simply White' its 2016 Color of the Year. The color leader highlighted white as a timeless and versatile design statement. White radiates luxury, sophistication and serenity. The color works for practical reasons when clients are big art collectors.
