Irish Textile Designer stitches stools, knits wool shirts for chairs

Textile Designer Claire-Anne O´Brien stitches stools, knits wool shirts for chairs.
Combine a fascination with fabric, love of furniture and fascination with scale and the result may be both more comical and comfortable that you would expect. This blogpost is a repost of my blog from 03-02-2012. Be Inspired .......
About the designer:
Claire-Anne O'Brien is a textile designer specialising in knitting. Originally from Ireland she has graduated from the Royal College of Art in 2010 with a Masters in Textiles. Her work plays with technique and scale creating playful and tactile fabrics for interiors. This sculptural approach to textiles brings fabrics to life in three dimensions through form exploration and furniture. Instead of draping a shirt of the back of a chair, she proposes an entertaining alternative: cover it with a comfortable lambswool button-down sweater complete with ribs, cuffs, button holes, cut and fashioned to envelope and pad your seat. Below you will find some results of her beautiful work.

Interior Design: Amazing London House & Garden by Studio MacLean

Be inspired by this amazing London house & garden studio! British interiors firm Studio MacLean designed the renovation of this West London property – which measures 371 square metres – and its garden studio for a family who wanted to update the interiors with timeless finishes. Studio MacLean used monochrome paintwork, oak chevron flooring, cherry wood and marble finishes to overhaul this London house. Love many aspects of this house, like the monochrome palette in white and black, the oak parquet, the kitchen with wood and marble, the black custom-made steel doors as well as black painted radiator and staircase. And last but least the beautiful lighting design.

Furniture Design: the elegant Norton dining table designed by Sean Dare

Would like to share with you today this beautiful Norton dining table designed by Sean Dare (2014) from the British design company Dare Studio. What a craftsmanship! Here it is combined with the Katakana armchair. The Norton dining table was developed from an experiment in joinery techniques. The junctions between the cross rails, side rails and legs have been cleverly designed to overlap, slot and tenon to provide a solid construction with wonderful details. The Katakana armchair was designed by Sean in 2009. A beautiful combination with the Norton dining table ....... The armchair was influenced by Japanese symbology and has a distinctive angular character.
