I visited in March 2016 an Art Fair close at my place and found some beautiful and colorful digital artwork from the Dutch artist Jeanet Hage (Deco-Foto). Project design is what Jeanet Hage always has inspired and her inspiration source is nature. She says: 'Nature can offer immeasurable possibilities for photographing'. Jeanet is since 2009 busy with Digital Art. This means: art created by the computer. She is using merely her own materials, unless it concerns an assignment for a client. A new design starts by working with forms, lines and colors of a selected photo. The images of the original photo are often not recognizable anymore and became (half) abstract and figurative creations. Are you also inspired by this interesting abstract work? Ursula J. Brenner creates a diverse array of landscapes and contemporary abstracts in acrylics and encaustics, using contrasts in form and color to underscore emotion in each piece. Ursula’s art reflects a wide range of moods, from light and playful to deep and mysterious. Born in Germany, Ursula has been influenced by a rich cultural background of old world museums, art, music and architecture. She lives and works in Cincinnati, Ohio, where she attended Edgecliff College on scholarship, graduating in 1978 with a BA in Drawing and Painting.

She has studied with and been influenced by the work of Wolf Kahn, Susan Sarback, Doug Dawson and Albert Handell. Always filled with ideas, Ursula can be as inspired by driving in the country as looking through a magazine. She likes to focus on the fundamental nature of a scene – the values, colors and shapes -using a “notan” study, a Japanese method of examining lights and darks. She enjoys alternating between landscapes and abstracts to keep her interest in both genres high. Ursula experiences a spiritual connection as she creates art, something she wants the viewer to experience as well. “My art makes a strong, bold statement, an unambiguous statement,” says the artist. “Yet it can be very ethereal too.I want people who look at my art to be transported into another realm, to transcend the normal human experience.”

Ursula is represented by selected galleries. Her paintings are featured in private and corporate collections internationally, She works with interior designers and art consultants and accepts commissioned work. A national award-winning artist, Ursula was chosen to attend the Vermont Studio Center on partial scholarship in 2002.

Artist Juan Cruz Reverberi was born in Tucumán, a northern city in Argentina, known for its history and education. Winning a prize in a painting contest in Buenos Aires when he was just five years old, Juan Cruz’s artistic career had an unconventional beginning with a six-year degree in architecture, with a background in complex geometry and advanced mathematics.

Juan Cruz has a natural and intuitive talent that has been honed and expanded on through his traveling experiences around Europe and the Americas especially Hawaii. He received his degree in architecture from the University of Architecture and Urbanism of Tucumán and started working with his father in the family firm at a very young age. Immediately, Juan was immersed in a variety of projects as well as specializing in luxury high rise building apartments in New York City while gaining valuable insight to a deeper passion – painting. 

After living in Maui and New York for a decade, Juan Cruz broadened his artistic methodologies and ability to express his art and design through earth-friendly technologies and ultimately an evolving passion for nature. Juan Cruz’s paintings often inspire questions. Complex geometry and rich textures intrigue viewers who are often surprised to learn that the paintings are in fact both imaginary abstract worlds and human spaces, often filled with water and constantly with an architectural reminiscent. 

Juan Cruz has moved away from figurative painting and drawing and begun experimenting with large format abstracts pieces. His new work is heavily influenced by life experiences he had while working as an architect in Maui and New York. In both his paintings and drawings Juan Cruz Reverberi use color, light, texture and extensive layers to create abstracts symbols that are extremely colorful and expressive. He has engaged in an intellectual and sophisticated but also a spiritual style since the beginning of his career. He states that part of the process is to paint something that speak back to him while painting, inviting him to experience it in a introspective or inward looking manner. 

Currently, he resides in New York, still greatly influenced by Maui’s majestic shoreline, life experiences and a profound respect for the environment. Juan Cruz continues to express his spiritual art. His work appears in public and private collections in the U.S, England, New Zealand and Argentina. In his free time he can be seen windsurfing out East New York or dancing tango in Manhattan.

While surfing this morning on internet I found this beautiful painting from the talented Russian artist Anastasia Vostrezova. What a Beauty! I guess you've noticed already that I love art and ballet too. Be inspired ....... 

What Anastasia Vostrezova wrote about herself:
My name is Anastasia. I live in St. Petersburg, in Russia. If you are here, it means that you love ballet and dancing as much as I do. I’ve been developing these themes in my art for more than 12 years. For me ballet and the world behind-the-stage is a miracle, grace and lightness. This is what I try to show in my works.
My works are dedicated to ballet because I adore theater and admire ballet. My endless source of inspirations is what is going on behind the scenes, dressing rooms, rehearsals, and actors. For me ballet and the world behind-the-stage is a miracle, a grace and a lightness. This is what I try to show in my works. Among my paintings there are plots of my imagination and ballets from the repertoire of different theaters.
Still-life is another favorite genre. And once inspired by the abundance of flowers in Summer I create new still-lifes. The antique that I collect is another source of inspiration for me.

Anastasia was born in 1981 in a family of artists. She spent all of her childhood in Moscow and in Pereslavl-Zalesski where her family had a summer house. She graduated at the Academy of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg 2008.

Her personal reaction:

- I see painting as the art of depicting the world in its beauty, be it a person, landscape or flower. Everything has its own color, its own mood, its own soul.

In the physical world, through the perfection of form, the divine manifests itself in beauty. Beauty reveals and depicts what is eternal. In my paintings, I try to follow this practice in an effort to ensure that in the hearts of viewers, the painting arouses a world of thoughts, emotions – happy or sad, but always poetic and sublime.
Not always and not in every artwork can this result be achieved, but this is the main objective, without which painting becomes meaningless. I spend a lot of time in the ballet theater, and in the auditorium, as well as backstage during performances and rehearsals.

It is impossible not to love this magnificent scenic world. I often talk with the artists, musicians, people of ballet and I am very close to the words of the great Russian ballerina Anna Pavlova, addressed towards all ballet dancers and artists alike … and even towards all people: “Let’s dance more, and try to find more beauty in the dance as well as in life.

A true artist – whether he dances or does something else – always strives for beauty. So let us become one with the world of true artists, just as we become one with the world of dancers, because by replacing ugliness with beauty in visual images and intangible areas, we come a little closer to happiness and completeness -

Monique says: I am fascinated by forms. Elementary forms, like circles, but also human forms. In my work I always try to give new dimensions to these forms. What inspires me? Not easy to explain. My inspiration comes above all from inside. Every time I feel the urge to create a sculpture. And every time such elementary form is my starting-point. Of course I see also things in the world around myself which inspire me too. I am also using these things, but the real inspiration is coming from inside. I am doing this work commissioned for private persons, municipalities and real estate agencies. Besides that I am also always busy with free work. I like to work with various materials like steel, stone, epoxy, bronze and aluminium. Each material has its own limitation. Every time it's a challenge for me to create a form within these limitations, I have in mind.

Earlier I discovered these abstract paintings from the German artist Christian von Grumbkow. I was immediately touched by his colorful pieces as well as his expressive coloruse in green hues. Christian von Grumbkow is a German artist born in 1946 in Oberhausen, Germany and he is painting since he has the age of 3 years old. He is very well experienced as an international artist for more than 40 years. He had more than 300 exhibitions from 1971 untill 2018 in Germany, Belgium, Holland, Italy, Spain, Austria, the UK, U.S.A., Canada, Poland, France. 

BIOGRAPHY:

Christian followed from 1966 - 1971 art lessons at Prof. Rudolf Schoofs, WKS Wuppertal, Germany. He took also fine arts lessons at the Dutch Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam (NL) from 1969 - 1970. Earlier he worked at the Folkwangschule in Essen, Germany (1970 - 1980), was the founder and guitar player from the art-rock group Hoelderlin (1970 - 1977). He worked as a guest teacher in Alfter, Ulm, Witten, Vienna and London (1981 - 2010). During this period Christian also gave art seminars at various colleges / universities in the USA, Canada. He worked at the GB.Art Project at the CMS, Wuppertal, Germany and started with online tutorials with GEISTREICH LERNEN and his art school KUNST KURSE COACHING In 2009 Christian won the price Christa & Enno Springmann Kultur-Stiftung, Wuppertal, Essen, Germany.

Christian, you are an artist. What is your inner drive? Already in the days of my childhood when I was a very shy little boy I became aware of being obsessed by a diversity of creative moments and possibilities within my reach: Drawings with my mother’s lipsticks on wallpapers, a guitar built by myself and my humming of self-composed songs, role-playing games or even plasticine landscapes.

Bright moments at school only if and only if I could draw, paint, plasticize or play music. In this respect the inner pulse “to feel myself”, to provoke, to manipulate and change social processes - be it in a sensitive or in a somewhat provocative way - became a kind of “inner language” - or even speech - since adolescence. For a couple of years I was not capable to communicate in common “verbal” language and could not master speech as a means of public communication.

However it was this attitude which allowed me against intense opposition to train my perception and helped to develop my inner posture concerning art during the years of studying art and later on. I discovered color as “Layer of Emotions” and a form of selftherapy. 

What should art, your art be capable to cause? I have been painting for many years now. Collaborating with colleagues, art historians and gallery owners a specific outlook on art has developed and is still in process. Let me put it this way: The more authentic my way of living and working - the more my art gets precise and “reduced” to the core. Orders, sales and invitations to expositions came easier and had a lasting effect. Travelling, manifold encounters, any kind of experiences were as well an inspiring moment for me as artist and as human being. 

My art whether displayed in collections, public buildings or living spaces is not at all destructive or even cultivate destruction. The aim of my art should build up, strengthen / support, give more sensitivity and the viewer confront oneself partially. Art as a possibility for individual contemplation and social perception.

“I don’t paint a message, nor thoughts, but I paint color ... I must struggle for quality, for the essence of color, for mood, for balance or even for dissonance. Starla Halfmann is a professional Austin artist and Texas native. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Design Communications from Texas Tech University. Her art and design interests are varied but her focus is on pushing the limits of impasto style paintings combined with mixed media. Intuition, emotion and a spiritual connection all play an integral part in the creation of each painting.

"I love what I do and try to maintain a child-like wonder in my work. I grew up on a farm in West Texas where the only access I had to art was a "P" encyclopedia. At four years old, I would thumb through "Paintings" thinking "Anyone who can do this has got to be happy all the time!" I chased butterflies, collected shells, glass, rocks, - whatever I found interesting and beautiful. My grandmother's antique broaches and lace scarves were intricate treasures. I felt magic all around me. My parents and their friends thought I would be a vet because I loved animals so much - one of the reasons why I paint them so often. What I find funny is even when I'm not creating a painting with animals they still show up hidden in my abstract paintings. On most days, I still feel that magic and wonder when I paint. To be able to create freely and express oneself fully is truly a joy and blessing that I never want to take for granted."

The Beauty of Art: 'London' by Russian painter Gleb Goloubetski

Born in Omsk in the former Soviet Union in 1975, Gleb Goloubetski displayed noticeable artistic talent as a child under the tutelage of his father who was also a successful painter.

Gleb's formal training came from his studies at the highly acclaimed academy in St Petersburg where his work attracted much attention. Gleb's inspiration comes primarily from the aged architecture and geography of Europe. He travels extensively in the United Kingdom, the Mediterranean, the Far East and Maui looking for images to paint. When he finds a view that inspires him, Gleb will sit and absorb it for some time, paying particular attention to how the natural light conditions of the day influence his perspective and moreover his emotional response.

Returning to his main studio in St Petersburg, Gleb will sit and consider his reference material. Reminding himself of scale, he then begins to paint. It is Gleb's emotional response to the subject that he conveys to the canvas, in oil, with only his palette knife.

Tell us about You - your philosophy and the experience in visual arts

As a child I loved to draw and liked to be creative. I almost was born with a pencil in my hand. I knew I wanted to do something related to arts. I have graduated from Graphic Design in Darmstadt, Germany and then worked for different advertising agencies in Germany, USA and Switzerland.

I stopped working in agencies after becoming a mother and after a short time of being self employed I decided to quit work until my children grew older. Because of my children (4 and 6 years old) I can go through childhood again and I can enjoy the world of fantasy and fairy tails. I like to look at childrens books and let them inspire me. „Where the wild things are“, from Maurice Sendak is a favourite book of all of us. Through the children books I rediscovered the love to illustration again.

As a professional graphic art designer I often had to make compromises for the clients. There were a lot of rules in visual communication and I often felt that I could not express my whole creativity. Now I enjoy creating art that does not explain itself from the beginning. My images have a dreamlike and surreal quality. They speak from inner feelings which we often hide in our daily life.

What are your greatest inspirations?

My inspirations are: fantasy, children stories, medieval, Jugendstil, Folklore and Surrealism. I am inspired by the work of Nicoletta Ceccoli, Kelly Rae Roberts, Sabrina Ward Harrison, Olaf Hajek, Maggie Taylor, Natalie Shau, Colette Calascione and Nazario Graziano. Well, there are so many great artists around!

How did you gain so much knowledge in this area?

As a graphic art designer I worked a lot with digital images.

What creative mediums do you prefer the most and why? 

My images are all digital made. I collect old images and illustrations and put them new together in Photoshop. The working process is based on combining and the division of photographs, with removing, filling and retouch. Using digital medium I have far more creative possibilities and I can work much faster then on the Canvas. Perhaps, my skills have been formed during the long years of working in front of my computer. Thanks to all that I can create my art best in digital.

Your art world is …

My art world is Otto Dix, Frida Kahlo, Picasso, Gustav Klimt, Magritte and Boticelli.

As a youth in Le Havre, Monet was encouraged by the marine painter Boudin to paint in the open air, a practice he never forsook. After two years (1860–62) with the army in Algeria, he went to Paris, over parental objections, to study painting. In Paris, Monet formed lasting friendships with the artists who would become the major impressionists including Pissarro, Cézanne, Renoir, Sisley and Bazille. He and several of his friends painted for a time out-of-doors in the Barbizon district. Monet soon began to concern himself with his lifelong objective: portraying the variations of light and atmosphere brought on by changes of hour and season.
